Pennine SSP join forces with Newsome SSP in Table Tennis Festival

On Thursday 19^th November over 50 year 4, 5 and 6 children from across South Kirklees took part in two Table Tennis Festivals at Newsome High School and Scissett Middle School.  The events were run by Newsome and Pennine School Sports Partnerships in conjunction with the Huddersfield Table Tennis Association.  The night began with a group warm up, incorporating ball skills and familiarisation with the bat.  The coaches then lead a session on different strokes used in the game and the children were able to practice back hands and forehands, before putting their new skills into practice against each other.  They were also given the opportunity to use target training aids such as a mini Basketball net, Rugby posts and Cricket wickets.  The enjoyment of the children and the progression of all during the festival was great to see.  They will now have the opportunity to take part in an Under 11s Table Tennis Competition at Scissett Middle School on Wednesday 2^nd December and at Newsome High School on Thursday 3^rd December.
